For Solidarity and Respect – against Exclusion
HZDR supports civil society's call for democracy
Excellent science thrives on an open and tolerant society. It is only within such a society that we can explore innovative solutions to the major challenges of our time. For this reason, the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) supports the call of the non-partisan alliance "Wir sind die Brandmauer" for a large rally for democracy on February 25, 2024, starting at 3 p.m. at the Neumarkt in Dresden. In addition, around 240 other organizations from Dresden's civil society, including churches, trade unions, charities, foundations and associations, have joined the call to stand up together for solidarity and respect and against exclusion. The event is part of the nationwide campaign "Hand in Hand". An extensive program with music and speeches is planned.
The Board of Directors of the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf, Prof. Sebastian M. Schmidt and Dr. Diana Stiller: "People from over 60 nations work at the HZDR. They contribute their knowledge, skills and experience every day so that we can understand the behavior of materials, treat cancer more effectively and use our resources safely and sustainably - for the benefit of all people in Germany and worldwide. Their diversity is our strength. We stand firmly by the side of our international employees and would like to encourage everyone to make a statement for an open, tolerant and democratic society."
