Model-based Adaptive Processing

Choosing optimal process routes and parameters is key to efficient beneficiation. It depends on the composition of the feed material, the incoming material flows but also on the current products value on the raw materials market. Scientists from the Modelling and Valuation Department are therefore developing decision theories and techniques to predict and adapt the choice of optimal process routes and parameters in realtime. This is done with the help of microstructure and process models developed in the department.

The optimization of individual reprocessing devices or methods is based on Monte Carlo simulations, which take into account remaining uncertainties and thus enable to carry out adequate evaluations of new process strategies or technologies. Similar strategies have already been used to optimize process chains and plant design at the same time. The aim is a more flexible processing of the entire deposit by forecasting the best processing route for each block mined.
