Computational fluid dynamics - closed projects

In close co-operation with the department of Experimental Thermal Fluid Dynamics the following projects aiming on the generation of experimental data for two-phase flows suitable for CFD code qualification were done:
- Gas-liquid flows in vertical pipes
- Flow around an obstacle in a vertical DN200 pipe
- Hot leg model of a Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR)
- Stratified flows
- Pressurized Thermal Shock (PTS) in case of Emergency Core Cooling in a PWR
- Experiments on boiling processes in pressurized water reactors
- Experiments related to the transport, deposition and re-suspension of aerosol particles
In addition there was a close cooperation with the department of Reactor Safety of the Institute of Resource Ecology in the field of CFD code development regarding:
- the analyses of boron dilution transients and
- the coupling of CFD with the reactor core model DYN3D.
