Strategic Partnerships and Collaborations of the HZDR
The HZDR attaches great importance to a close network of partners in the Helmholtz Association and with other strong academic and non-academic partners. It maintains close cooperation with the Technische Universität Dresden in particular within the framework of the DRESDEN-concept excellence network, but also with all other Saxonian universities, and forms topic-specific alliances with research institutions in Germany and abroad.
The HZDR enters new forms of cooperation between research institutions, universities and clinics in the field of cancer research. The broad-based and intensive cooperation between institutions in Dresden on the one hand and cancer researchers in Heidelberg on the other brings together experts from many branches of research and is intended to enable faster clinical application of the latest therapies and technologies.
International Collaborations
As an important member in several European research networks the HZDR contributes to international research projects like, for example, the Knowledge and Innovation Community EIT Raw Materials. The Center also maintains close contact with the ESRF in Grenoble, France, the European XFEL near Hamburg, and the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel.

Cancer Research in Dresden
Interdisciplinary research is essential to make progress in the fight against cancer. A close cooperation therefore connects the HZDR with the University Hospital and the Technische Universität Dresden at the jointly operated OncoRay Center. Together with the DKFZ in Heidelberg, the three institutions are expanding Dresden to a partner site of the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT).

Helmholtz Networks
The Helmholtz Association promotes innovative research collaborations between Helmholtz centers, universities and further academic partners at home and abroad. The HZDR is actively engaged in the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology. It is also involved in several roadmap processes for research infrastructures as well as Helmholtz cross-program initiatives. HZDR also hosts the Helmholtz Research School NanoNet.
