MHD Days and GdRI Dynamo Meeting

November 26 - 28, 2018, Dresden, Germany

Scope and Goals

This year the annual meetings of the German MHD community and the GDRI Dynamo network will be jointly held in Dresden, the capital of Saxony, well known for its cultural and historical highlights. The conference is organized by the MHD group of the Institute of Fluid Dynamics at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) and will take place from Monday, November 26 to Wednesday, November 28, 2018. Following the tradition of former MHD Days and GdRI Dynamo meetings, the conference will focus on geo- and astrophysical MHD as well as on industrial applications of MHD. In this context, we would like to present our MHD laboratory and the DRESDYN project.

We also have the honour to celebrate the 60th birthday of Gunter Gerbeth, the head of the Institute of Fluid Dynamics and founder of the MHD group at HZDR.

Venue

The meeting will take place at HZDR, which is located 15 kilometres from the city centre of Dresden. A bus transport between the Hotel Schloss Eckberg and HZDR will be organised during the three days of the conference.

Accommodation

We strongly recommend to reserve a room at the Hotel Schloss Eckberg for the reduced prize of 79 € per night since we organise the bus transport from this hotel to HZDR on the three days of the conference. The welcome reception on Monday November 26 and the conference dinner on Tuesday, November 27 will also take place at the Hotel Schloss Eckberg. Room reservation is possible during the online registration process. Since the bus shuttle to HZDR starts in the morning of Nov 26 it might be recommendable for people coming from abroad to arrive on Sunday.

Workshop fee

The workshop fee is 150 € and includes lunches, coffee, a welcome reception on Monday,  and the dinner on Tuesday. The fee must be paid during the online registration by credit card or by bank transfer.
