MHELTHERA: Monash-Helmholtz Laboratory for Radio-Immuno-Theranostics

The aim of the Helmholtz International Lab MHELTHERA is to create a joint platform of HZDR (Germany) and Monash University (Australia) for diagnostic and therapeutic expertise related to cancer, infectious and cardiac diseases. This is intended to optimize methods of non-invasive imaging and personalized therapy in these fields. Both sites are developing next-generation biomedical imaging platforms for this purpose. In this respect, nuclear techniques such as positron emission tomography (PET) and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), as well as optical techniques such as fluorescence imaging (FLI), are used as molecular imaging methods. The common goal within MHELTHERA is the development and clinical translation of new (radio)(immune)theranostics in oncology, cardiology and infectious diseases.
