Untersuchung zur Strahlenbelastung des medizinischen Personals bei [18F]FDG-PET-Studien

Untersucht wurde die Strahlenbelastung des medizinischen Personals bei wesentlichen Arbeitsschritten von PET-Untersuchungen. Die Wirksamkeit von selbst entwickelten Strahlenschutzeinrichtungen und Arbeitsanweisungen wurde geprüft.
Methode: Die Personendosis und die Handdosis wurde für die einzelnen Arbeitsschritte bei [18F]FDG-Untersuchungen mit direkt ablesbaren Personendosimetern bzw. Thermolumineszenzdosimetern gemessen. Ergänzend wurden Ortsdosisleistungsmessungen durchgeführt.
Ergebnisse: Die mittlere Personendosis pro PET-Untersuchung betrug für die Spritzenpräparation 1 Sv, für die Injektion 3 Sv, für die Blutabnahme sowie für die Patientenlagerung und -betreuung je 6 Sv. Als mittlere Handdosis pro PET-Untersuchung wurden bei der Spritzenpräparation 710 Sv für die rechte und linke Hand und bei der Injektion 13 Sv für die rechte sowie 27 Sv für die linke Hand ermittelt. Alle Werte wurden unter Verwendung der im PET-Zentrum Rossendorf eingesetzten Strahlenschutzvorrichtungen und -maßnahmen gemessen.
Schlußfolgerung: Die entwickelten Strahlenschutzvorrichtungen gewährleisten die sichere Einhaltung der Jahresgrenzwerte für die Personendosis. Eine Ausnahme bildet die hohe Handdosis bei der Spritzenpräparation. Hier sollte eine automatische oder fernbedienbare Fülleinrichtung eingesetzt werden, wenn mit mehr als etwa 500 PET-Untersuchungen im Jahr gerechnet wird.

The aim of the investigation was the identification of those working steps with the highest radiation exposure for the medical personnel during [18F]FDG-PET studies and to evaluate the effectiveness of radiation protection devices and instructions applied.
Methods: The personal dose and hand dose were measured for each working procedure during [18F]FDG-PET studies using electronic personal dosimeters and thermoluminescent dosimeters respectively. Additionally, measurements of the radiation level in proximity of the patient were taken.
Results: The mean personal dose resulting from syringe preparation was 1 µSv/syringe, from injection 3 µSv/patient, from blood sampling during quantitative studies 6 µSv/study, and from positioning and handling of the patient 6 µSv/study. The mean hand dose per syringe preparation was 710 µSv for each hand. The mean hand dose during injection was 13 µSv for the right hand and 27 µSv for the left hand. All above mentioned values were measured applying the routine radiation shielding in use in our PET center.
Conclusion: With the developed radiation shielding and means to reduce radiation exposure applied the allowed annual dose for medical personnel are not exceeded. One exception could be the hand dose resulting from syringe preparation. If more than 500 PET investigations per year are expected, an automatic or remote filling device should be considered.

Investigation of Humic Acid Complexation Behavior with Uranyl Ions Using Modified Synthetic and Natural Humic Acids

We investigated the influence of phenolic OH groups on the complexation behavior of humic acids (HA's) with UO22+ ions at pH 4. Starting from the synthetic HA type M1, the natural HA Aldrich, and the natural HA Kranichsee, we synthesized modified HA's with blocked phenolic OH groups by derivatization with diazomethane. The partial blocking of phenolic OH groups was confirmed by a radiometric method which quantitatively determined the functional groups and by FTIR spectroscopy. The complexation behavior of the modified and unmodified HA's with UO22+ ions was investigated by time-resolved laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy. The experimental data were evaluated with the metal ion charge neutralization model. We determined comparable complexation constants for all HA's. Two modified HA's (type M1 and Aldrich) had significantly lower loading capacities with UO22+ ions (10.5 ± 0.9 % and 9.7 ± 1.6 %, respectively) than the corresponding unmodified HA's (18.0 ± 2.0 % and 17.5 ± 1.6 %, respectively). This indicates that the blocking of the phenolic OH groups changes the complexation behavior of the HA's.

Aim of the work is to investigate the structural mechanisms of the enhanced hardness of the technical alloy Ti-6Al-4V due to N+ implantation and its degeneration. Ti-6Al-4V samples were implanted with doses (1 - 6) x 1017 N+/cm2 at 80 keV. The structural implications of the loss of hardness during annealing were studied by in-situ XRD-experiments with synchrotron radiation. Additional sample characterisation was performed by SEM, ERDA and Vickers hardness. The hardness reduction due to annealing is caused by phase transformation from TIN to Ti2N as well as by rearrangements in the alpha-Ti and beta-Ti phase of the alloy.

A superconducting RF gun: Current status of the Drossel cooperation

The Drossel collaboration was established for the development of a low emittance high average current injector for the ELBE project. The injector is based on a photocathode RF gun with a superconducting cavity. The high average current is especially important for applied research and other applications. First tests of the gun cavity has been done at DESY TTF.

Am Beispiel einer Hydrierung von Nitroaromaten zur Aminoverbindung wird gezeigt, wie durch Kombination von modellgestützten Verfahren und Untersuchungen im Laborreaktor maßstabsunabhängige Modellparameter ermittelt werden können, die für Scale-up Aufgaben genutzt werden könnten.

Identifikation und Bewertung prozeßrelevanter Zustände in Semibatch-Reaktoren mit neuronalen Netzen

Die Anwendungsmöglichkeiten neuronaler Netze zur Operatorberatung bei der Prozeßführung exothermer Reaktionen werden am Beispiel einer säurekatalysierten Veresterung gezeigt. Um auch die potentielle Gefahr der verschiedenen Fehlerzustände bewerten zu können, wurden separate Perceptron-Netze zur Gefahrenbewertung und zur Fehleridentifikation angewendet. Die Ergebnisse zeigten, daß durch geeignete Trainingsdaten und Merkmalsextraktion aus den Prozeßdaten die Perceptron-Netze auch Fehler in Prozeßabläufen erkannten und richtig bewerteten, deren Daten nicht zum Netztraining benutzt wurden.

Leckagen überwachen - Akustische Lecküberwachung mit neuronalen Netzen an Druckanlagen komplizierter Topologie

Eine Methode zur Ortung von Lecks und zur Abschätzung ihrer Leckraten ist für Druckanlagen mit komplizierter dreidimensionaler Topologie entwickelt worden. Sie basiert auf der Merkmalsextraktion aus dem leckinduzierten Körper- oder Luftschall und benutzt neuronale Netze zur Mustererkennung. Die zum Anlernen der neuronalen Netze notwendigen Schallmuster können mit Hilfe von simulierten Lecks an der Originalstruktur erzeugt werden. Die Methode ist auch dann einsatzfähig, wenn die Leckortung auf der Basis von Laufzeit- oder Dämpfungsdifferenzen versagt. Sie wurde prototypisch für einen WWER-Druckwasserreaktor entwickelt und getestet. Als Merkmale zur Charakterisierung des Leckortes wurden Kohärenzwerte zwischen hochfrequenten Mikrofonsignalen oder die Effektivwerte der Schallemissionssensorsignale genutzt. Zur Leckratenabschätzung wurden die Merkmale ausschließlich aus den Effektivwerten dieser Schallemissionssignale gebildet. Durch die Anwendung neuronaler Netze kann die Methode ohne Schwierigkeiten an Druckanlagen unterschiedlicher Topologie angepaßt werden.

Früherkennung sicherheitsrelevanter Betriebszustände in Chemieanlagen mit neuronalen Netzen

Es wird eine Methodik beschrieben, die die Früherkennung von sicherheitsrelevanten Betriebszuständen ermöglicht. Die Ergebnisse werden am Beispiel der diskontinuierlichen und kontinuierlichen Veresterung diskutiert. Bei den Arbeiten stand die frühzeitige störungsabhängige Diagnose von unerwünschten Betriebszuständen innerhalb der gesamten Anlage im Vordergrund. Die Leistungsfähigkeit neuronaler Netze für die Identifizierung bestimmungsgemäßer und nichtbestimmungsgemäßer Betriebszustände wird sowohl mit Simulationsdaten als auch mit Meßdaten der chemischen Versuchsanlage nachgewiesen.

The suitability of pattern recognition for safety diagnosis of chemical plants will be discussed. Therefore, experiments in a miniplant and with a process simulator are carried out. The process characteristics are treated with different recognition methods and classified with the aid of expert know how. Afterwards, the trained system can be used for process diagnosis. The capability of neural networks for this problem could be shown.

The development of a superconducting rf gun: Status of the drossel collaboration

In the beginning of 1996 the Drossel collaboration was established between the FZR and the BINP Novosibirsk for the development of a new electron injector. The injector combines the principle of a photocathode rf gun using a superconducting (sc) accelerating cavities. The objective of this development is a sc rf gun, which delivers a bunched electron beam in continuos wave mode. The beam parameters should fulfill the requirements of ELBE, a superconducting accelerator currently under construction at the Forschungszentrum Rossendorf. This accelerator is the base for an infrared FEL user facility and nuclear physics and radiation physics experiments.

Beam dynamics in RF-gun cavity with a modified first cell

The result of beam dynamics simulation with bunch charges up to a few tens pC in superconducting linaer accelerator for ELBE project [1] is presented. The accelerator consists of 3+1/2 TESLA cells RF-Gun and two 9-cell TESLA cavities. It is shown, that the change of a flat back wall of the half cell with cathode in its center by a conical back wall results in reduction of transversal bunch sizes and also in reduction of emittance at the accelerator exit by a factor of 20.

A main focus of this work was the synthesis of four different humic acid model substances and their characterization and comparison to the natural humic acid from Aldrich. A radiometric method for the determination of humic acid functional groups was applied in addition to conventional methods for the determination of the functionality of humic acids. The humic acid model substances show functional and structural properties comparable to natural humic acids. Modified humic acids with blocked phenolic OH were synthesized to determine the influence of phenolic OH groups on the complexation behavior of humic acids. A synthesis method for 14C-labeled humic acids with high specific activity was developed.
The complexation behavior of synthetic and natural humic acids with uranium(VI) was investigated by X-ray absorption spectroscopy, laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy and FTIR spectroscopy. The synthetic model substances show an interaction behavior with uranium(VI) that is comparable to natural humic acids. This points to the fact that the synthetic humic acids simulate the functionality of their natural analogues very well. For the first time the influence of phenolic OH groups on the complexation behavior of humic acids was investigated by applying a modified humic acid with blocked phenolic OH groups. The formation of a uranyl hydroxy humate complex was identified by laserspectroscopic investigations of the complexation of Aldrich humic acid with uranium(VI)at pH 7.
The migration behavior of uranium in a sandy aquifer system rich in humic substances was investigated in column experiments. A part of uranium migrates non-retarded through the sediment, bound to humic colloids. The uranium migration behavior is strongly influenced by the kinetically controlled interaction processes of uranium with the humic colloids.
The influence of humic acids on the sorption of uranium(VI) onto phyllite was investigated in batch experiments using two different humic acids. The uranium(VI) sorption onto the rock phyllite is influenced by the pH-dependent sorption behavior of the humic acids.
