DRESDYN: Sodium storage
Description
To carry out the precession experiment, the rotating container is filled under argon atmosphere with 12 tons of liquid sodium, which is stored in heatable storage tanks right next door. The sodium serves as model liquid, because with a melting temperature of almost 100°C it is much easier to handle than liquid iron.
